Met Office x global action plan
Raising air pollution awareness with a fun personality quiz
What kind of clean air champion are you? The Queen of Clean (Air)? An Air-Venger? Maybe even the Fresh Prince of Clean Air?
These aren’t just the best (or only!) clean air puns you’ve heard – they’re part of a fun, interactive digital quiz we developed in collaboration with Global Action Plan and the Met Office, designed to spark curiosity and action among young people about one of the biggest environmental issues of our time: air pollution.
Launched as part of the Clean Air Programme (supported by the UK Research and Innovation Strategic Priorities Fund), this project was all about turning awareness into action – with a big dose of humour, personality and science-backed facts. Aka, three of our favourite things.
Quizzing for good
Air pollution is a serious issue – it affects our health, our environment and our future. But here’s the thing: tackling it doesn’t have to start with doom and gloom. We saw an opportunity to educate and inspire young people in a way that felt relatable, memorable and genuinely fun.
Together with Global Action Plan, we created an interactive personality quiz that put a playful twist on pollution awareness. From choosing how to get to school, to how you spend your screen time, each question explored real-life choices that affect air quality – all wrapped up in a tone that’s uplifting, inclusive and encouraging.
The quiz didn’t just educate – it empowered. No matter your result (“Air-Venger” or not), every participant received personalised tips to level up their clean air game in the real world. Knowledge, meet action.
A day in the life of a clean air champion
We designed the quiz in a format kids already know and love – the classic “Mostly A’s / Mostly B’s / Mostly C’s” style. But the best part was the journey: the quiz walked players through a typical day in the life of a young person, from wake-up time to wind-down time.
Each scenario-based question challenged players to make everyday decisions – like how they travelled, what they ate and even how they ventilated their homes – all linked to air pollution impact.
We packed it with punchy language, puns galore and youth-friendly humour, while grounding every answer in evidence-based insights from Global Action Plan’s Gap Analysis Report. Players got instant feedback, fun facts and bite-sized, real-world actions to take away with them.
The impact
Time for the real test! Would young people actually engage and learn something useful?
To find out, we ran a pilot by hosting the quiz on the National Geographic Kids UK website – a platform already trusted by thousands of eco-curious kids and families.
We surveyed 154 young people aged 10 to18 who took part in the trial. The results were super encouraging and showed that the right mix of humour, storytelling and interactivity can transform a complex topic into something that sticks – and inspires change.

Let’s start with a chat. Big idea, small problem or “we’re not quite sure yet” – it all starts the same way. A conversation. If it feels like we’re a good fit, brilliant. If not, you’ll still leave with a few good ideas and no awkward sales follow-ups.
